You're entitled to know where we receive our support. Last year,

25% came from contributions from individuals

less than 1% came from corporations

73% came from foundations

0% came from unions

The balance came from speaking fees, fees for articles, and publication sales.

Our single largest contribution from individuals – $1,440 – came from a person's estate located in British Columbia.

Our single largest contribution from a foundation – $70,000 – came from the Open Society Institute, for our work to disclose problems with big dams and water projects in China. The Open Society Insitute contributed another $50,000 for an English language training program in China. Probe International also received $40,000 from The McKnight Foundation in Minnesota to support our environmental advocacy work with citizens' groups in Southeast Asia's Mekong region.

In calculating the support that our foundation receives, we include the value of contributed services. Over the years, these have included pro bono work by lawyers and other professionals, free rent supplied by the University of Toronto, and other material contributions that have helped us carry on our work.

Our privacy policy: We respect the privacy of our individual donors. We identify all contributions greater than $1,000 from publicly-traded corporations.
